How Much Can You Earn From Forex in the UAE? The Honest Answer Is a Range
No honest source can hand you a monthly figure, because your result comes from variables you control and ones you do not.
Updated Oct 2026 · how we rate brokers
Why Your Result Is a Range Rather Than a Number
Any figure quoted to you before you trade is a guess dressed as a fact. Your outcome depends on how much you risk per trade, how often you trade, what your method actually returns after costs, and how you behave when a position moves against you. Two people using the same strategy on the same pair in the same week can finish in completely different places because of those choices alone.
The market adds its own variables on top. Volatility shifts between sessions, news lands without warning, and liquidity thins out at certain hours. Because of that, the only sensible way to think about earnings is as a distribution: a bad stretch, a typical stretch and a good stretch. Your job is to survive the first so you are still present for the others.
| Figure | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Indicative USD/AED | 3.67 | open.er-api.com, pulled 2026-09-28 |
| How often it moves | Every trading day | — |
| The rate your account uses | Your broker's own conversion | The broker's rate card |
| Symbol on this site | AED | — |
An indicative rate is for sizing a position in your head, not for settling one. Your broker's conversion will not match this rate, and that difference is a real cost.
The Clock on the Wall Changes What You Can Realise
In the UAE you trade on GST, UTC+4, and the session map matters more than most beginners expect. Sydney runs 01:00 to 10:00, Tokyo 04:00 to 13:00, London 12:00 to 21:00, and New York 16:00 to 01:00. The London and New York overlap, 16:00 to 21:00, is when the most movement tends to happen, and it sits right in your evening.
That overlap is convenient if you finish work at a normal hour, and punishing if you start early the next morning. Trading the 01:00 Sydney open before a full Gulf working day is a different physical proposition from trading the evening overlap. Deciding which hours you can genuinely watch, week after week, narrows your range of outcomes more than any indicator will.
The Gulf working week also shapes how you review. If your only free block is Friday, your learning loop runs weekly rather than daily, and that stretches how long everything takes.
| Part of the day | Local time · GST |
|---|---|
| Busiest window | 16:00-21:00 GST — London and New York open together |
| Thinnest stretch | 01:00-10:00 GST — Sydney alone, wider spreads |
| European open | 12:00-21:00 GST |
| US open | 16:00-01:00 GST |
| Closed | Friday New York close until the Sydney open on Monday |
The hours are shown for the clocks in force today: GMT for London until 28 March, EDT for New York until 1 November. The UAE does not change clocks, so each move shifts these local times by an hour and the page is rebuilt on the day it happens.
Costs and Position Size Decide What Reaches Your Account
The number you see on a profit calculator is not the number you keep. Spreads, commissions, swap or financing charges on positions held overnight, and the conversion cost of moving money in and out all sit between your result and your balance. A strategy that looks fine on paper can be thin once those are subtracted, which is why the honest way to judge a method is net, not gross.
Funding adds its own friction. Bank transfer is the main rail in the UAE, with local bank transfer, card and international wire also used, and each has its own timing and cost. Check your broker's funding page and your bank's transfer app for the actual charges rather than assuming they are identical.
Position size is the other half of this. Risking a large slice of your account on one idea widens your range dramatically in both directions, and the downside is the part that ends accounts.
How deposits and withdrawals travel
- Local bank transfer
- Limits set by your bank and the broker
- Card
- Card payment — limits set by your card issuer and the broker
- International wire
- Bank transfer — limits set by your bank and the broker
Limits and fees are set by the provider and the broker and change without notice, so they are not printed here. Read the limits in the provider's app, then on the broker's funding page, and keep the payout route the same as the deposit route.
What to Check Before You Commit Money
Regulation in the UAE is not one thing. Three regimes coexist: the Capital Market Authority onshore, the DFSA in the DIFC and the FSRA in the ADGM. A broker's licence tells you which one applies, and that determines who handles a complaint if something goes wrong. You can check the CMA register of licensed companies at uaecma.gov.ae.
Before depositing, work out your own expectations rather than borrowing someone else's. Decide what you can lose without changing your life, how many hours a week you can actually watch the screen, and what a realistic learning period looks like given your schedule. If you want structured help, a demo account from a regulated broker plus a free course is a reasonable starting point; paid signal groups are not a shortcut around the learning curve.
Finally, treat any figure you are shown in advance, including from a calculator, as an illustration of mechanics rather than a forecast of income.

A register says whether a firm holds a licence on the day you look, and nothing about how it treats clients. Use the company name from the site's footer - that is what a register will know it as.
The GST close is not the end of your trading day, it is the end of your useful one
Many UAE traders assume the session ends when their platform clock rolls over at GST midnight. It does not. What actually closes is the window where your reaction time and the market's liquidity overlap well enough for a discretionary decision to be worth making.
By the time New York is in full flow, you are several hours into a working day that started early. Fatigue is a real input into your results, and it does not appear on any statement. The cost of a tired entry shows up later, in a position you hold too long because you stopped watching it properly.
The practical consequence is that your trade plan should name a cut-off hour in GST, not a target number of trades. Write it down before the week starts. If a setup appears after that hour, it belongs to tomorrow, and the honest thing is to let it.

A figure with no source and no date is a guess with good manners. Anything we could not trace is left out rather than printed from memory.
A withdrawal request tests your bank record, not your trading skill
The first time you move money out, the broker and your bank will look at the same thing: the trail left by your original transfer. That trail is created at deposit, long before any profit question arises, and it is the part most people treat casually.
Use the same account name and the same rail in both directions wherever the broker permits it. A deposit made by card and a withdrawal requested to a different account is the classic mismatch that turns a routine request into a review, and reviews run on banking hours, not on your schedule.
Keep the transfer confirmation your banking app generates. It is the document a dispute will ask for first, and it is far easier to locate in the week it happens than months later. The broker's own funding page states which rails it accepts and in what name.
| Platform | What it is | Who makes it |
|---|---|---|
| MetaTrader 4 | The older standard; expert advisors and a large script ecosystem | MetaQuotes |
| MetaTrader 5 | The newer build; more order types and timeframes | MetaQuotes |
| cTrader | Depth of market and a different order model | Spotware |
| The broker's own app | Usually simpler, and tied to that one firm | The broker |
A platform is software, not a safeguard: the same terminal is offered by licensed and unlicensed firms alike. A high rating is not a permission. The register is where the licence is confirmed.
Checking the CMA register takes minutes and answers only one question
The register at uaecma.gov.ae tells you whether a firm appears on the public list of licensed companies. That is the whole of what it tells you. It is a status check, not a recommendation, and it says nothing about pricing, execution quality or whether the firm suits how you trade.
People often skip this step because they have already decided. Do it before the deposit, not after, because the register is a reference you consult, not a remedy you apply. If a name is absent, that absence is the answer, whatever the marketing pages say.
Note that being on the list does not make a firm appropriate for your circumstances, and it does not cover every entity that markets to UAE residents. Read the entry itself rather than a summary of it, and check the firm's own funding page for how money actually moves.
| Document | What it proves |
|---|---|
| Emirates ID or passport with residence visa | Who you are |
| Selfie with the ID document | That the document is in your hands |
Brokers usually also ask for proof of address - Ejari or utility bill; requirements differ per firm. What a particular firm will take is written on its own account-opening page.
Your first month should be judged on process, not on the balance
A new trader's account balance in month one is mostly noise. Position sizing, session timing and whether you followed your own rules are the things that carry forward. The balance can look fine while the process is broken, and that combination is the one that fails later.
Set a review point on the calendar, in GST, and use it to read your own notes rather than your equity. Ask which decisions you would repeat and which you made because you were bored or rushed. Those two categories produce very different outcomes over a year.
The demo account problem is worth restating here in a different form: it removes the consequence that shapes behaviour. Once real money is moving by bank transfer, the timing of your decisions changes. Judge the first month on whether that change was managed, not on what the account happened to show.
Four claims worth one minute of checking
- A fixed monthly return, promised in advance
- Ask which licence permits it, then look the firm up on the CMA register of licensed companies.
- A deposit asked for in gift cards or vouchers
- Check the broker's own funding page: firms list bank, card and wallet rails, not vouchers.
- Someone offering to trade the account for you
- Managing money for a client is a separate permission. The register says whether a firm holds it.
- A withdrawal released only after a new payment
- Read the withdrawal terms you agreed to. Such a fee, if invented at payout, is not part of them.
None of this is a judgement about any firm. Each line is a check you can run yourself, starting at uaecma.gov.ae.
Can I begin with no deposit and still make money?
You can open a demo account and learn the mechanics at no cost, and that is genuinely useful. Earning real money requires real capital at risk, because the profit is a percentage of what you put up. Anyone offering free trading that produces income is usually selling something else.
How long before I am competent at this?
It varies with the hours you can commit, not the calendar. Someone with an hour each evening around the London and New York overlap will progress faster than someone squeezing in one session a week. Expect months of deliberate practice, journaling and review before your results mean anything, and treat the first stretch as tuition rather than income.
Where do I confirm a broker is properly licensed here?
Start with the CMA register of licensed companies at uaecma.gov.ae. Remember that the DFSA in the DIFC and the FSRA in the ADGM are separate regimes, so a licence names which authority supervises the firm and therefore who you would complain to. Confirm the entity you are actually signing with, not just the brand name.
