Prop Firm Evaluations From the UAE: Where the Money Goes and How the Clock Shapes It
A prop evaluation is a fee paid for a chance to trade someone else's capital, not an account you own.
Updated Oct 2026 · how we rate brokers
Your Fee Buys a Test, Not a Position You Can Withdraw
When you pay for a prop firm evaluation from the UAE, you are buying access to a simulated or firm-funded trading arrangement with rules attached. The balance on the dashboard is not a deposit you can pull back out. It is the size the firm has assigned you to trade under its conditions.
That distinction matters most when the evaluation ends. If you pass, the arrangement usually converts into a funded account with a profit split and a withdrawal process defined by the firm. If you fail, the fee is gone. Nothing in the challenge terms converts it into a refundable balance.
Read the payout section before you read the profit target. The payout section tells you when money actually leaves the firm and reaches you, and what conditions must hold at that moment.
How deposits and withdrawals travel
- Local bank transfer
- Limits set by your bank and the broker
- Card
- Card payment — limits set by your card issuer and the broker
- International wire
- Bank transfer — limits set by your bank and the broker
Limits and fees are set by the provider and the broker and change without notice, so they are not printed here. Read the limits in the provider's app, then on the broker's funding page, and keep the payout route the same as the deposit route.
The Dashboard Sign-Up Is the Easy Part; the Rulebook Is the Real Document
Creating an account and choosing a challenge size takes minutes. The document that decides whether you keep the account is the rules page: drawdown measured how, daily loss reset at which hour, news trading restricted or not, holding over the weekend allowed or not.
Treat that page as a risk document rather than a price list. A cheaper challenge with a tight trailing drawdown can cost more in practice than a larger fee with rules that match how you actually trade.
Discounts and promotions are common in this business, so a forex prop challenge discount is worth checking on the firm's own funding page rather than a third-party advert. Confirm the discount applies to the size you want, and confirm the current rules on that same page, because terms change.
| Document | What it proves |
|---|---|
| Emirates ID or passport with residence visa | Who you are |
| Selfie with the ID document | That the document is in your hands |
Brokers usually also ask for proof of address - Ejari or utility bill; requirements differ per firm. What a particular firm will take is written on its own account-opening page.
Money Leaves the UAE Through Your Bank, So Build the Delay Into Your Plan
The main rail for paying a prop firm from the UAE is a bank transfer, with local bank transfer, card and international wire also used. Each has its own clearing time, and an international wire can sit for a working day or more before the firm sees it.
That delay matters because most evaluations start counting from the moment the fee lands, not the moment you click pay. If you buy on a Thursday evening, the clock may not start until the following week.
Check the payment status inside your banking app before you assume the challenge has begun. If the firm's dashboard still shows an unpaid invoice, the trading days have not started for you either.

An indicative rate is for sizing a position in your head, not for settling one. Your broker's conversion will not match this rate, and that difference is a real cost.
GST Session Hours Decide When a Funded Account Is Actually Tradable
From the UAE, the tradable day is set by Gulf Standard Time, UTC+4. Sydney runs 01:00 to 10:00 GST, Tokyo 04:00 to 13:00 GST, London 12:00 to 21:00 GST and New York 16:00 to 01:00 GST.
The London and New York overlap, 16:00 to 21:00 GST, is the window that fits most cleanly around a Gulf working week. It sits after office hours and it is when the two largest sessions are both open.
If your job keeps you busy until the evening, an evaluation built around the Asian session will be difficult to trade properly, no matter how good the rules look on paper. Match the challenge to the hours you genuinely have.
Regulation also shapes the choice. Three regimes coexist in the UAE: the Capital Market Authority onshore, the DFSA in the DIFC and the FSRA in the ADGM. A firm's licence says which one applies, and that changes who handles a complaint. The CMA's public list sits at uaecma.gov.ae, and the firm's own site should state which regime it falls under.
| Part of the day | Local time · GST |
|---|---|
| Busiest window | 16:00-21:00 GST — London and New York open together |
| Thinnest stretch | 01:00-10:00 GST — Sydney alone, wider spreads |
| European open | 12:00-21:00 GST |
| US open | 16:00-01:00 GST |
| Closed | Friday New York close until the Sydney open on Monday |
The hours are shown for the clocks in force today: GMT for London until 28 March, EDT for New York until 1 November. The UAE does not change clocks, so each move shifts these local times by an hour and the page is rebuilt on the day it happens.
A Failed Evaluation Is Not a Refundable Purchase, So Price It as a Cost
Most candidates treat the evaluation fee like a deposit they can recover if the attempt fails. It is not. Once the rules are broken or the target is missed, the money is spent, and the firm owes nothing back. Budget it the way you would budget a course, not an investment.
This changes how many attempts you can realistically fund. Two or three failed evaluations in a row is a normal outcome for a first-timer, and each one resets the clock and the fee. Before paying a second time, check whether the firm offers a reset or a fresh account, and read the exact terms on its own funding page.
The failure mode is quiet. A trader passes on attempt four, then treats the funded account as recovery for the earlier losses and trades too large. The evaluation fee is gone the moment it leaves your account. Treat every attempt as a separate, non-recoverable cost from the start.

A figure with no source and no date is a guess with good manners. Anything we could not trace is left out rather than printed from memory.
The Payout Schedule Matters More Than the Profit Split Percentage
New candidates compare firms by the headline split and ignore when money actually arrives. A generous split paid on a slow cycle is worse for a UAE trader than a smaller split paid promptly, because the delay sits on top of the bank transfer time already built into every withdrawal.
Ask the firm, in writing, how often payouts are processed and whether the first payout has a waiting period. Then check your own bank's cut-off for international transfers. A payout approved on a Thursday afternoon in GST may not move until the following week, and that gap is your cash-flow problem, not the firm's.
The failure mode is planning rent or a trading top-up around a payout that has been approved but not settled. Approval is not settlement. Track the payout against your bank statement, not the dashboard, and keep a buffer that covers the full cycle from request to cleared funds.
| Platform | What it is | Who makes it |
|---|---|---|
| MetaTrader 4 | The older standard; expert advisors and a large script ecosystem | MetaQuotes |
| MetaTrader 5 | The newer build; more order types and timeframes | MetaQuotes |
| cTrader | Depth of market and a different order model | Spotware |
| The broker's own app | Usually simpler, and tied to that one firm | The broker |
A platform is software, not a safeguard: the same terminal is offered by licensed and unlicensed firms alike. A high rating is not a permission. The register is where the licence is confirmed.
Regulation and Platform Access Are Two Separate Checks
A firm can be listed on the CMA register and still route you to a platform or entity that sits outside it. The register at uaecma.gov.ae tells you which companies hold a licence. It does not tell you which entity holds your evaluation fee, or which jurisdiction governs the contract you sign.
Before paying, match three things: the company name on the CMA register, the entity named in the terms and conditions, and the name on the payment instruction. If those three do not line up, stop and ask the firm to explain in writing. A mismatch is a warning, not a technicality.
The failure mode is assuming a licence covers the whole relationship. It usually covers a defined activity, not every product the firm offers. Read what the licence actually permits, then decide whether the evaluation you are buying falls inside that scope.

A register says whether a firm holds a licence on the day you look, and nothing about how it treats clients. Use the company name from the site's footer - that is what a register will know it as.
Your Working Week Is Not the Market's Working Week
The UAE working week runs Sunday to Thursday for most people, while the trading week runs Monday to Friday. That mismatch is the single most common planning error for candidates here. A quiet Sunday evening at your desk is a quiet market, and a busy Friday afternoon is one you may be working through.
Map your actual availability against the sessions that matter for the instrument you trade, then check whether the firm restricts trading around major news or at week boundaries. Some rulebooks treat holding positions over the weekend differently from intraday exposure, and that distinction decides whether your schedule is viable.
The failure mode is passing the evaluation on a schedule you cannot repeat once funded. If the only hours that fit your job are hours when your instrument barely moves, the funded account will sit idle or force oversized trades. Choose the firm and the market around the clock you actually have.
Four claims worth one minute of checking
- A fixed monthly return, promised in advance
- Ask which licence permits it, then look the firm up on the CMA register of licensed companies.
- A deposit asked for in gift cards or vouchers
- Check the broker's own funding page: firms list bank, card and wallet rails, not vouchers.
- Someone offering to trade the account for you
- Managing money for a client is a separate permission. The register says whether a firm holds it.
- A withdrawal released only after a new payment
- Read the withdrawal terms you agreed to. Such a fee, if invented at payout, is not part of them.
None of this is a judgement about any firm. Each line is a check you can run yourself, starting at uaecma.gov.ae.
If I pass an evaluation, is the account balance mine to keep?
No. Passing converts your evaluation into a funded arrangement under the firm's terms, with a profit split and a defined withdrawal process. The balance itself remains the firm's capital, not a deposit you own or can withdraw.
Which hours should I pick if I trade after work in Dubai?
The London and New York overlap, 16:00 to 21:00 GST, is the natural fit for a Gulf working week. London alone runs 12:00 to 21:00 GST and New York runs 16:00 to 01:00 GST, so both cover the evening, but the overlap is the busiest stretch.
Where do I confirm the rules and any discount before paying?
On the firm's own funding page, not an advert. Check the drawdown method, the daily reset time and the payout conditions there, and confirm the discount applies to the size you are buying. For the regulatory side, the CMA register at uaecma.gov.ae lists licensed companies onshore.
